Storyfolk Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Storyfolk Novel Planning App ("App", "Storyfolk", "we", "our", or "us"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

Use of the App

Storyfolk is a productivity application designed for writers to plan and organize stories. The App is available for download via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. By using the App, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

User Content

You retain all rights to any content you create using the App. Storyfolk does not claim ownership over your work.

Data Storage and User Responsibility

By default, data created and stored using Storyfolk is saved locally on your device. Storyfolk may also offer optional features that allow you to sync or store your data using third-party services (such as Google Drive). If you choose to use these features, your data may be stored outside your device using those services.

As such:

• You are solely responsible for maintaining adequate storage space on your device to ensure optimal performance of the App
• You are solely responsible for backing up your data and generating copies (e.g., PDF exports) to avoid loss
• You are responsible for managing any third-party accounts used for synchronization
• We are not liable for any data loss resulting from device failure, deletion of the App, synchronization issues, third-party service outages, or any other reason

Cloud Sync and Third-Party Services

Storyfolk may offer optional features that allow you to sync or store your data using third-party services, such as Google Drive.

By choosing to use these features, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Your data may be transmitted to and stored by the selected third-party service Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies
• Storyfolk does not control and is not responsible for how third-party services handle, store, or secure your data
• Storyfolk does not store or retain your content on its own servers as part of this feature.

Account and Security Responsibility

If you use cloud sync features, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your third-party accounts (such as your Google account).

Storyfolk is not responsible for unauthorized access, data loss, or breaches resulting from compromised accounts or third-party services.

Support and Diagnostic Data

Storyfolk does not access or collect user content during normal use of the App. However, if you contact us for support and voluntarily provide files (such as diagnostic files, exports, or screenshots), those files may contain your story content or other data stored in the App.

By submitting such materials, you grant us permission to access and review this information solely for the purpose of providing support, troubleshooting issues, and improving the App. We will not use this information for any other purpose and will not retain it longer than necessary to resolve the issue.

Limitations of Use

You agree not to:

• Modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any portion of the App
• Bypass or attempt to bypass any measures we may use to prevent unauthorized access to or use of the App
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation

Updates and Compatibility

We may, at our sole discretion, release updates, upgrades, or enhancements to the App. These may include patches, bug fixes, or new features.

Future versions of the App may not be compatible with all devices or operating systems. Continued use may require installation of the latest version of the App.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any part of it, temporarily or permanently, with or without notice.

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the App at any time, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including but not limited to your breach of these Terms.

No Warranty

The App is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted under applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted.

Paid Access and Future Subscription Model

Storyfolk V1 is offered as a one-time paid download. Users who purchased the app during this version will retain full access to the features available at the time of purchase. We may introduce a subscription-based model in future versions (e.g., Storyfolk V2) to support ongoing development and expanded features. Users who purchased V1 will not be required to subscribe in order to continue using the original features available in the version they paid for.

Access to new features or content added in future updates may be made available through a subscription. Continued updates and feature availability are not guaranteed with a one-time purchase.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Storyfolk and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, device failure, synchronization errors, third-party service failures, or account access issues, arising from or related to the use or inability to use the App.

Artificial Intelligence

Storyfolk does not use artificial intelligence to generate, modify, analyze, or process user-created content within the App.

We do not use your content to train AI models, and your work is not shared with or processed by any artificial intelligence systems.

All content you create remains entirely under your control and is not used for automated generation or machine learning purposes.

Privacy

Storyfolk does not collect or store personal data or user-generated content during normal use of the App.

Any information voluntarily provided for support purposes will be handled in accordance with these Terms.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify users (such as through the App). Continued use of the App after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles.
