Daughter of the head of a secret society in 1860s Germany, Inge Kron embarks on a mission to find a rare book by the English mystic Dr. John Dee. She finds herself at the court of Hannover, having to muster skills in deception and flattery just as much as her book learning. But she is being watched. When she meets the younger princess of Hannover who has taken to study Dee’s book, she finds that the book has a way of changing people. The Prussian army is closing in on Hannover, and there is little time to obtain the book. But the question remains: what strange magic is hidden within its pages?
