1. Become A Member

To keep this free online community focused on genuine collaboration, all members must be approved by the admin before they can post or connect with others. This approval process, which usually takes a day or two, ensures that everyone is here for the right reasons: to improve their story, or help improve stories voluntarily. Please provide as much information as you’re comfortable with during the signup process to not only help us better understand your needs and goals, but to help other members get to know you and your writing journey!

2. Post & Discover

As a writer, you can post a teaser of your story, helping readers and critique partners find projects that match their interests. Your post is designed to include essential details such as tropes, genre, word count, story aesthetic, spice level, and any trigger warnings. One of the biggest pain points for beta readers is a lack of information, which can lead to projects being abandoned because they weren’t what the reader expected. Storyfolk solves this by giving writers the process to clearly communicate what their story is about and what kind of feedback they’re seeking.

3. Connect With Writers

When you find a story, partner, or group that interests you, reaching out is simple. You can message the writer or organizer directly to move forward with your collaboration. Be sure to check back regularly for any messages, but don’t worry – we’ll send email notifications for every inquiry you send or receive. This way, you’ll never miss an opportunity to connect with others and keep your projects moving forward.

4. Collaborate

Collaboration on Storyfolk is all about flexibility and finding what works for you! Writers specify their preferred communication method in their post, whether it’s email, chat, or another platform, so you can connect in the way that feels most comfortable. Groups follow the communication method set by the organizer, making it easy to stay connected and on track. Storyfolk is here to help you form meaningful partnerships, and we’re excited to continuously improve our features to make your collaboration experience even better in the future!
