Dreams Of Dust is the first book in my ten book dreamwalker saga. It follows Grant, the herald of Daruga as he travels around the seven continents gathering pantheons to prepare for a war with an uncertain enemy. There are lots of flashbacks, characters, the books get more inspired by mytholgy as they go on. Think, the prose of jim butcher, with simmilar magic systems to erikson and the sometimes grim and cynical outcomes of joe abercrombies work.

The Dresden Files Jim Butcher - It was always meant to be an urban fantasy, thats why it is set in the modern day. The main character grant is sort of like Dresden. The First Law Joe Abercrombie - Grimdark at times, bloody battles, sometimes cynical view of things, not always a happy ending but not doing it just for a gimmick Malazan Steven Erikson - The herald system of malazan fascinated me, as did eriksons use of epigraphs and flashbacks and prolouges
