Requirements & Requests
Before you start filling out this form there are a few important components I'd like to share with you. Ever since I was a little kid I had an interest in creative writing. Whether it be short fictional stories, creating outlines for full length novels, or even venturing into poetry every so often. It's always been a dream deep in the back of my mind to write a fantasy book. It was always the genre I found myself most drawn to. The Harmony of Four is a huge culmination of years long ideas finally being written out. It has creatures made from my own mind, mythical creatures such as fae, gnomes, trolls, dragons, wyverns, pixies, elves, etc., ideas of spirituality/religion, magic systems that go deeply rooted into the world I've built. In this LGBTQIA+ Epic Romantasy One-Eyed Aurora Xildi's life gets tossed in a whirlwind of new directions as she discovers most of her childhood was a lie curated to protect her from the prophecy placed on her at birth. Will she be able to decipher right from wrong; leadership over power, or will the temptations make her fall to the fate she's unknowingly always been running from? Not only will this be a sign-up sheet for myself to use to contact and see viable candidates for the position; it will also be a way for you as a potential beta reader to understand the role you will be committing to upholding as well as possible content warnings to help you decide if this is the right book for you to be beta reading. First you'll need to understand what a beta reader is. A beta reader is someone who reads a completed draft or near-completed book manuscript to give the writer feedback before publication, and beta reading refers to this same process. The term comes from the "beta" version of a product in software development that's tested by users before its final release. Betas may be friends or acquaintances of the author, or strangers who know their book’s genre well. Though beta readers are not editors or professional critics, they can play an important role in helping the author improve the work by pointing out errors, plot holes, inconsistencies, or unclear passages. To put it simply, as beta readers you help me gage my target audience, get to help shape the story in ways you think would best make sense to the broader public, and be the very first to read the first draft ever of The Harmony of Four. As a beta reader you'll have a few responsibilities you'll need to be willing to commit to before deciding it's right for you: -Ensure you never let any copy or potential copy of any draft you are given access to be run through any form of AI program. All versions, drafts, and corrections of The Harmony of Four are copyrighted and protected from AI screenings. The result of a beta reader failing to follow such instructions will be forced to face legal consequences. -Love reading! This is a REQUIREMENT to being a beta reader and frankly, the easiest one. -Have a basic understanding of Canadian Grammar and Spelling. You will be asked to highlight grammar errors as well as sentence structure flow. -Enjoy Fantasy Genre books as this one is Epic Romanic Fantasy. -Be able to commit to a reading timeline to get your final answers and comments in. -Be able to read 100k+ words. -Be 18+ as this book does contain adult content, traumatic content, and graphic content. If you feel you fit all the requirements then please feel free to continue down the sign-up sheet to answer a few questions for me to better understand you as an individual reader. The Deadline for this Role will be on Aug. 10th to give me time to look through all candidates. You will receive an email by the Aug. 13th if you have been selected as a beta reader.
